Justin Madden AM has been involved in Melbourne Public life for most of his life.
Justin and his wife Julie have been married for 27 years and they have four adult children.
Justin's career includes 15 years in the Victorian State Parliament, having held seven Ministerial portfolios within successive Victorian Labor Governments across 11 years including Minister for Youth Affairs and Minister Assisting the Minister for Planning, Minister for Sport and Recreation, Minister for Commonwealth Games, and Minister for Planning Minister.
Prior to his parliamentary career, Justin held the role of President of the AFL Players Association during an AFL career totaling 332 AFL Games with both Carlton and Essendon Football Clubs. He was Carlton Best and Fairest winner in 1985 and 1991. Played in 4 Grand finals winning 2 Premierships, in 1987 and 1995.
Justin is a Life Member of the AFL, the Carlton Football Club and The AFL Player’s Association.
Justin is also a registered Architect having run his own practice, and qualified teacher.
Justin is Cities Leader and Principal for Arup which is a Global Engineering and Design Consultancy. He leads a team dedicated to providing strategic city advice to help cities function and grow.
Justin was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2016 for significant service to the Parliament of Victoria, to Australian Rules football as a player, and to the community.
